Many Changes Underway for eBay Sellers
April 19th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedFirst Major Announcement of the Year from ebay
Earlier in the year, ebay announced that it would be making two big announcements per year regarding the ebay Marketplace. Each announcement would be made 60 days in advance of when the changes were scheduled.
ebay has now made the first announcement of the year, and it includes three groups of changes (comment on them here.), each with components of their own. As highlighted by ebay the new changes are as follows:
1. Easier, more visual shopping-plus buyer incentives to drive more sales
For one, there is a new item page, that ebay says can impact how your listings are displayed.
There are new product pages. “When buyers search for popular items in some categories like Music or Electronics, they will be presented with a page that displays the products associated with their search terms,” ebay explains. “ebay identifies listings for these product searches by looking at ‘product details’ in a listing (formerly called ‘pre-filled item information’) to see if there’s a match to details stored in our master database (catalog) of products.”
ebay tells sellers to make sure product details are listed whenever available to ensure inclusion on product pages.
There is also a new way to list items with multiple variations such as size and color for fixed price listings.
Last on the list for number one, is ebay’s “big investments” in buyer incentives and loyalty. They’re aggressively trying to drive more traffic to ebay through incentives and rewards for buyers.
2. Key information to set buyer expectations and help reduce your costs
ebay has developed a “Smart FAQ” section that draws “live” information from listings to answer the top 20 buyer questions before buyers reach sellers through “ask a question.” You can review and customize questions, or you can simply have buyers go straight to you with their questions.
They have also introduced package tracking in My ebay. “Sellers are responsible for their items until they arrive safely in the buyer’s hands. ‘Where’s my stuff?’ is one of the most common buyer questions,” says ebay. “When buyers can easily find out for themselves, they’re more satisfied with transactions and leave sellers higher shipping DSRs.”
Other items that fall into number 2 include:
- Return policy and handling time-deadline extended
- Customized Item Specifics
- Category and item specific changes
3. More updates to make selling on ebay “more efficient”
ebay Resolutions are a subject that should be of great interest to sellers. ebay says:
We are introducing a new, more efficient dispute resolution process for when buyers claim an item was not received or the item they received was different than described in the listing. The goals of the new process are to keep buyers on ebay by giving them a more familiar eCommerce resolution experience, and to reduce the time buyers and sellers spend resolving issues.
Direct communication between buyers and sellers will continue to be strongly encouraged. With the new process, buyers and sellers will also have an option to call ebay. We’ll be taking a more active role, and in certain cases when we determine the seller was not at fault we may refund the buyer at our own expense.
ebay will also start directing buyers to resolve disputes on ebay instead of PayPal. This process will be “gradually transitioned,” according to the company.
Other updates that fall into this last category include:
- Free Selling Manager with new applications
- Pay shipping, print labels right on ebay
- Tools to bulk edit your listings
There are many more details on every new feature mentioned here at ebay’s site. The changes are expected to go into effect on June 15th (though possibly later in some places).

Do You Capture Your eBay Customers?
January 29th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedDo you maximize on every buyer you attract to your ebay auctions? Why not? They have bought from you once right? You can’t find an easier target than an existing customer.
Let me explain;
That customer who purchased from you yesterday might want other products from you tomorrow.
How do you do this? With an autoresponder. An autoresponder allows you to add your customers name and email to your opt in list and then you can broadcast more product offers to them that they may be interested in. You can then follow up with them once a week and stay at the front of their mind.
Why?
They already bought from you on ebay and trust you.
They are obviously interested in your product or related products.
You can now direct them straight to your website to purchase and save on ebay fees.
You can sign up to be an affiliate of complimentry business/products and profit when They purchase something from there also.
You communicate with them regularly.
For example; say I’m selling ipods - customer purchases; and then I enter them into my autoresponder.
I follow up in a few days thanking them for their purchase, and make sure they were happy with their item. (This is my first contact since their purchase, so I am just building trust and rapport.)
Three days later, I send another email and tell them about iTunes, where they can find music to download to their new ipod. The link that I send in the email (of course) is my affiliate link. So if they purchase anything thru iTunes, I get a commission.
I can send out an email every week with tips on how to get the most out of their ipod and every once in a while send a different complimentary offer.
Here are the two most popular and reliable autoresponders;
www.Aweber.com
With each of these services, you can send as many broadcasts as you like (be careful though, don’t spam them). As new customers are added to your ‘list’, they will be automatically add into the sequence and receive the follow up email at intervals you choose.
Don’t worry, the user interface is very easy to use and they both have great tutorials on the site.
You spend alot in ebay fees, so get the most out of each buyer - Don’t let them be gone forever!
To Your ebay Success;

Important eBay Changes for 2009
December 29th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feedjust wanted to remind you of three important ebay policy changes that will begin to be enforced in early 2009.
- As you’ll recall, ebay started enforcing maximum shipping and handling charges on books, DVD’s and Movies, Music, and Video Games in October of 2008. Sellers were given until January 2009 to update their item descriptions to make sure that the first domestic shipping option is below ebay’s policy maximum. More details: http://pages.ebay.com/sell/August2008Update/MaxShipping/ and http://pages.ebay.com/sell/August2008Update/OtherFAQ/#1.
- ebay gave sellers a grace period for removing paper payment options such as checks and money orders from item descriptions. Enforcement begins in January 2009. For a refresher on this ebay policy, see this link: http://pages.ebay.com/sell/August2008Update/OtherFAQ/#3
- Sellers will need to specify handling time and a return policy in their listings. Enforcement begins in mid-March 2009. More details: http://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200810071337332.html
ebay has made numerous changes during 2008 and we expect there will be more in 2009. Be sure to visit often to keep up on these changes!

Got Wholesale Suppliers?
July 2nd, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedHi All;
It is not well known, but thousands of Real manufacturers
will actually drop ship for you. (I’m not talking about the
ones you find on a Google search)
WorldWide Brands is not actually a wholesale supplier. They
offer a service called OneSource. OneSource is a listing of
real wholesale sources, that have all been contacted by
WorldWide Brands and reached an agreement to work with ebay
sellers and small internet businesses.
WorldWide Brands has a staff of people who do nothing by
research wholesale suppliers every day. Each of the
manufacturers has been contacted in person or by telephone
and agreed to drop ship for ebay sellers. Their employees
actually attend wholesale trade shows for all of the major
industries to find the companies that will work with you.
WorldWide Brands charges a fee for this information, but it
is well worth it. They are the only supplier of wholesale
information actually approved by ebay.
Chris Malta, the founder of WorldWide Brands runs his own
radio show and is also the product sourcing editor for ebay
Radio. Check out this F*ree product sourcing video course;
http://tinyurl.com/5xlvjm
WorldWide Brands charges a one-time fee for lifetime access
to their database. there is a way to get this information
for free but it is frankly a lot of work. Go to
www.thomasnet.com. This is the home of The Thomas Register,
the largest data base of manufacturers in the US and
Canada.
You will see category listings on the home page –just
select one and start entering products you are looking for
into the search box. Hint –you will find most of the
products you are interested in, in the “Other” category. I
have found companies this way. Although it is free
–frankly it is a lot of work, and you don’t really know if
they are trustworthy. The small fee WorldWide Brands charges
to do all of this work for is well worth it, as ALL their
suppliers are pre - screened to help ‘the little guy’ avoid
getting scammed.
WorldWide Brands One Source gets my 5-Star Recommendation.
Get your Membership Now, and start lining up your suppliers
for The Holiday Season!
